Still Hanging in There

Well folks I'm still battling the cold I've had since I got back from North Dakota. On top of that my allergies and asthma have been uncooperative turning me into a sloth. I haven't had the energy to go to the grocery store and my husband has been doing the cooking so I've not been following the Rosedale plan very faithfully. I am, though, trying to stay as close to it as I can with what I've got on hand. I did go to town and weigh yesterday and am holding steady which is a good thing but didn't have enough energy to go into the store. I've been assured that it is not pneumonia and I should be turning the corner soon. I am feeling better than I had been but still not up to par. I'm really looking forward to going full steam ahead on the diet because I felt so good when I was following it precisely. My husband unfortunately thinks iceberg is the only real lettuce so I'm looking forward to shopping for some nice leafy greens. For all of you who have supported me with your notes, thanks. And good luck to all of you who are starting the diet. As far as I know Dr. Rosedale's book is the only source of information on the diet at this point. I've heard that there have been a couple magazine articles, too. We should start sharing some recipes.

Answers

Folks have been asking me some questions and now it's time to answer. 1. No, I'm not taking any of the supplements yet. 2. I did weigh in last week and just never got around to posting the results. In the two weeks I was od-ing on Dr. Pepper and traveling part of the time and following the diet part of the time I lost 1 1/2 lbs. 3. My starting weight on Sept. 9, 2004 was 274. On October 6 it was 255 1/2. I weigh in again tomorrow.

Back on track again

I was in North Dakota (lovely folks live there) speaking at a conference in Minot and the meals were part of the program so I had almost no control over selecting what I would eat. When I got home I immediately came down with a horrible cold and was miserable for at least five days. I also had a big deadline to meet so once I started feeling a little bit better I fueled several 16 hour work days with Dr. Pepper. I did realize that I had felt much better when I was on the diet. I'm back on it now and will be weighing in tomorrow again. I really like the way I don't feel hungry when I am sticking to the right foods. Fortunately avocados have been on sale lately and for the first time in my life I'm not feeling guilty about eating such a high-fat fruit.

Week 2

Weighed in again yesterday. This is phenomenal! Another 8lbs. off. When I return from this current trip (I'm speaking in North Dakota tomorrow) I'm going to join the health club again and start swimming laps.

Nine pounds!!!!!

Yay!!! Yesterday was my day in town and a very long one it was. We left the house a little before 6 am and didn't make it home until after 11pm. In between the two book groups I was running and the third that I've been a member of for 17 years, before the mandatory radio station meeting, and after lunch with my husband, I rushed by the doctor's office. With trepidation I got on the scale and moved the weights to the right -- to the place they had been before I started the Rosedale Diet last week. I moved the uppermost weight a little to the left -- the indicator stayed solidly planted at the bottom of its slot. I moved the weight a little more to the left then a little more and even more. Glee burst out in my smile. Nine pounds! I had lost 9 lbs. in my first week on the diet without ever being hungry! When I did OptiFast I only lost 4 1/2 lbs. the first week, Weight Watchers 2 1/2 lbs. and NutriSystem less than 2 lbs. This first week bodes well for the Rosedale Diet.

Day 3

I did weigh in yesterday so I know my starting weight as a benchmark. As stated in the diet, I wasn't hungry which helps a lot. Still having cravings for Dr. Pepper, though. I'd love to hear from anyone else who is trying The Rosedale Diet. I went by the local grocery store that had a machine that did blood pressure and weight but they've replaced it with one that only measures blood pressure. Wednesdays I go into town so I'll go weigh in on the doctor's scale then.

The Diet Begins - Day 1

I've decided that I am going to try the Rosedale Diet. I reviewed it on the Genrefluent Books of the Week Page and am hoping that this will be the diet that works. I've been fascinated with the Leptin connection since I first read about it years ago. Tomorrow I'll go to the doctor and weigh in as well as checking out blood pressure and such. Wish me luck.
